This and That
They tell me it gets cold
in Maine (never been there in the winter). The drive in from the main road looks cold.
Work continues on farmhouse
joist replacement. These joists under the bedroom have seen better days. Steel column provides temporary support.
Once removed this bedroom
joist disintegrated from dry rot and Powder Post Beetles. Proof that we made the right decision to renovate.
The old window frames are being
restored in the living room.
A steam cabinet helps remove
old paint and glazing from the window sashes.
A "steamed"
window sash, ready for new "old glass" and new paint
Work progresses on the
kitchen's vaulted ceiling showing the original roof rafters. The flat ceiling was discarded. A new chimney will go through
the framing at the top.
Psuedo post and beam rafters
to support kitchen addition roof
Here's how work on the
addition looked on a cold last Friday (Feb. 3).
Brrrrrr! Check back later
for more progress.
